Heiwa FAQ
Is the Heiwa carrier really suitable for newborns?
Yes, it is! In fact, our newborn fit is one of the features we are most proud of! You can use our Heiwa carrier from 3.5 kg, or a baby's clothing size 50. This corresponds to a sturdy, newborn baby. Later, as your newborn grows, our Heiwa carrier can be readjusted for a constant optimal fit.
For a newborn, adjust the carrier's back panel to the narrowest setting by pulling the drawstrings. Next, take care to the place the waistband high under your chest. Finally, make sure the top edge of the carrier does not sit higher than baby's earlobes.
When in doubt, contact us via the contact form, Instagram or Whatsapp so we can check your fit together.
Is the Heiwa carrier ergonomic?
Ergonomics and safety are key features of all our carriers. While MONKOSE takes great pride in making beautiful, hassle-free carriers, ergonomics and safety are - and always will be - non-negotiable.
For the development of its carriers, MONKOSE continuously collaborates with midwives and parents. (In fact, MONKOSE founder Linde Stifter actually started her career as a midwife, building experience alongside experts and young parents.) This expertise directly contributes to the design of our carriers, ensuring optimal ergonomics
Does the Heiwa carrier also support face-forward carrying?
Our carrier is not designed for face-forward carrying because this carrying position - based on current scientific insights - might compromise on the ergonomics of parents and baby. As ergonomics are a key feature of our carriers, MONKOSE purposely optimized the design of its Heiwa carrier for front carrying, hip carrying and back carrying instead.
However, as your baby gets more curious, hip carrying with your Heiwa carrier can be a great alternative! Like this, your baby can see more of the world while still ensuring good ergonomics and safety.
Are MONKOSE carriers safe?
All MONKOSE products are manufactured to the highest possible standards and with the highest quality materials. Our Heiwa carriers comply with the European CEN/TR 16512-2015 safety guidelines. Additionally, MONKOSE carriers are manufactured in carefully selected, specialized European production facilities.
