HEIWA Baby carrier
Is the Heiwa carrier really suitable for newborns?
Yes, it is! In fact, our newborn fit is one of the features we are most proud of! You can use our Heiwa carrier from 3.5 kg, or a baby's clothing size 50. This corresponds to a sturdy, newborn baby. Later, as your newborn grows, our Heiwa carrier can be readjusted for a constant optimal fit.
For a newborn, adjust the carrier's back panel to the narrowest setting by pulling the drawstrings. Next, take care to the place the waistband high under your chest. Finally, make sure the top edge of the carrier does not sit higher than baby's earlobes.
When in doubt, contact us via the contact form, Instagram or Whatsapp so we can check your fit together.
Is the Heiwa carrier ergonomic?
Ergonomics and safety are key features of all our carriers. While MONKOSE takes great pride in making beautiful, hassle-free carriers, ergonomics and safety are - and always will be - non-negotiable.
For the development of its carriers, MONKOSE continuously collaborates with midwives and parents. (In fact, MONKOSE founder Linde Stifter actually started her career as a midwife, building experience alongside experts and young parents.) This expertise directly contributes to the design of our carriers, ensuring optimal ergonomics.
Does the Heiwa carrier support face-forward carrying?
Intentionally, our carrier is not designed for face-forward carrying. Based on the most recent scientific insights, face-forward carrying might compromise on the ergonomics of parents and baby.
As ergonomics are a key feature of our carriers, MONKOSE purposely optimized the design of its Heiwa carrier for front carrying, hip carrying and back carrying instead. (In fact, this intentional design choice is one of the key reasons why our Heiwa carrier excels at these carrying positions.)
However, as your baby gets more curious, hip carrying with your Heiwa carrier can be a great alternative. Like this, your baby can see more of the world while still ensuring good ergonomics and safety.
Are Monkose baby carriers safe?
All MONKOSE products are manufactured to the highest possible standards and with the highest quality materials. Our Heiwa carriers are designed according to the European CEN/TR 16512-2015 safety guidelines.
Additionally, MONKOSE carriers are manufactured in carefully selected, specialized production facilities in the European Union.
HIPSTER Hip carrier
At what age can I start using the Monkose Hipster?
The Monkose Hipster is specifically designed for babies from approximately 6 months (as soon as they can sit upright independently) up to a weight of 20 kg (approx. 3 to 4 years old). Thanks to the extra-deep seat and adjustable drawstrings, our hip carrier provides the necessary support even for younger children.
Is the Monkose Hipster ergonomic for my little one?
Absolutely. Ergonomics were at the heart of our design process. The deep seat and drawstrings ensure your child always sits in the healthy ‘M-position’ or ‘frog position.’ This guarantees optimal support for the back and knees. Additionally, the bottom edge of the seat is softly padded for premium comfort behind the knees.
Can I use a hip carrier hands-free?
No, a hip carrier is a carrying aid designed to lighten the load of carrying your little one. As it does not have a full back panel like a traditional carrier, we advise always keeping one arm around your baby or toddler for safety.
Can I use the Hipster during pregnancy?
Yes, this is one of its biggest advantages! Since the Hipster has no waistband, there is no pressure on your belly. You carry the weight on your upper body. As long as it feels comfortable for you, you can safely use the Hipster during your pregnancy.
Does the Monkose Hipster fit all body types?
Yes, our hip carrier is 'one size fits all.' You set your base size once using the buckle at the back. While in use, you can tighten or loosen the carrier with the front buckle. This ensures a perfect fit for every body type.
Can I wear the Hipster on both my left and right hip?
Yes, because the design is completely symmetrical. You can easily switch sides to prevent pressure on one side, making it perfect for longer outings as well.
What is the purpose of the drawstrings?
The Monkose Hipster is equipped with two adjustable drawstrings at the top edge of the seat. These allow you to provide more support to the back of your little one. This creates a more ergonomic position for your child, but it also makes your carrying experience light as it keeps their weight closer to your own center of gravity.
What is the purpose of the metal front buckle?
The silver metal buckle is a stylish and practical detail designed by Linde, the founder of Monkose. She added this little hook so you can personalize your Hipster with an extra pouch, a stylish scarf, or a fidget for your baby.
What makes the Monkose Hipster unique?
The Monkose Hipster stands out through its combination of high-end design and maximum ergonomics. We paid special attention to the depth of the seat, our comfortably padded shoulder piece, and drawstrings that provide extra support for your child. Furthermore, we only use premium, high-quality fabrics so that our hip carrier seamlessly matches your personal style and outfits.
Is the Monkose Hipster safe?
Safety is our top priority. All Monkose products are manufactured according to the highest quality standards and the strictest European safety norms (CEN/TR 16512-2015). Our carriers are made in specialized European ateliers, after which every item undergoes a manual quality check in Belgium.
Where is the Monkose Hipster produced?
Just like our Heiwa baby carriers, the Hipster is produced in specialized ateliers within Europe. This guarantees fair working conditions, a relatively short production chain, and an exceptionally high level of craftsmanship.
What is the best way to wash the Hipster?
Always wash the Hipster on a delicate cycle (low temperature) with a mild detergent. We recommend using a laundry bag and removing the silver metal buckle beforehand. Let the carrier air dry (do not use a tumble dryer) to preserve the quality of the fabrics.
How compact is the Hipster?
When rolled up, the Hipster is smaller than a bottle of red wine! It fits perfectly right next to the French baguette and Brie in your picnic basket - or in your handbag or stroller of course. Bon appétit!
BISOU baby wrap
Is the Bisou sling suitable for any age baby?
Our Bisou sling can be used for newborns (starting at 3,5 kg or baby size 50) and for older babies (up to 15 kg or baby size 86).
How do I wear the Bisou sling?
Four simple steps:
- Fold your Bisou sling in half lenghtwise.
- Slip it over your head and preferred shoulder, with the opening facing down.
- Slide your baby's feet through the sling and let the backs of the knees rest on the top edge of the Bisou carrier, ensuring baby sits in the 'M-position'.
- Pull the top layer over baby's back, making sure there is enough fabric between baby's legs and yourself.
Can I wear the Bisou sling hands-free?
Our Bisou sling is a carry-assist, designed to create a lighter carrying experience. Therefore, we recommend always keeping one hand on your baby for additional support.
Can I wash the Bisou sling?
Yes, the Bisou sling is machine washable, on a low temperature cycle. Let it air dry to keep the fabric in good condition.
What size Bisou sling do I need?
The Bisou sling comes in five sizes. Usually, your upper clothing size is a good indication, both for women and men. Check our size chart for a more detailed overview. If you're between two sizes, we recommend the smaller one for a snug fit.
Other than that, biggest of Bisous to all of you. Xx
